Homemade Amish Peanut Butter with Cinnamon Sugar Pita Crisps

This Amish Peanut Butter Spread is the same recipe as the one you find in the Amish Restaurants.  We had tried to duplicate the recipe amish peanut butterseveral times until we mentioned our failures to our Amish friends.  They were happy to share the original recipe with us and now we share it with you.  Everyone should be able to enjoy this creamy peanut butter goodness at any time, not just when visiting Amish country.  The Cinnamon Sugar Crisps are a perfect accompaniment for this delicious spread.

Homemade Amish Peanut Butter Spread with Cinnamon Sugar Pita Crisps

This recipe was shared with our family from our Amish friends in Holmes County Ohio. It is the same peanut butter spread you find at Amish Restaurants. So good spread on biscuits, toast or used as a tasty dip for fruit, crackers or cookies. Also yummy as an ice cream topping.

Ingredients

  • 1.25 Cups Water
  • 2 tbls. Light Corn Syrup
  • 2.5 Cups Brown Sugar
  • 1.5 Cups Peanut Butter
  • 1.5 Cups Marshmallow Cream adjust this amount to your taste

Cinnamon Sugar Pita Crisps

  • 6 8 Inch Pieces Pita Bread
  • 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/3 Cup Melted Butter

Instructions

  • Bring water, corn syrup, and brown sugar to boil.

  • Remove from heat and add peanut butter to the water mixture.

  • Stir peanut butter with wire whisk until blended.
  • Add marshmallow cream and stir to blend thoroughly. Add more or less marshmallow cream to taste.

  • Pour into a serving bowl and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon

Cinnamon Sugar Pita Crisps

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Cut pita shells in half, then cut each half into thirds.

  • Arrange pita pieces on an ungreased cookie sheet.

  • Brush each piece with melted butter.
  • Combine cinnamon and sugar.
  • Sprinkle each pita piece with the cinnamon sugar.

  • Bake approx. 7 minutes until crisp, checking regularly.
  • Remove to a platter for serving.

Notes

These Cinnamon Pita Crisps with Amish Peanut Putter Spread are great for a party platter.  Serve for football games, parties or as a dessert.
